A Wilderness Experience in Maine’s Rangeley Area
If your scout troop focuses on training and practicing scouting skills in an off-grid environment, welcome to the Kennebago Scout Camp. This wilderness camp was generously established by the Stephen Phillips Preserve and is dedicated to enhancing the outdoors activities taught by the Scouting program.
This 50-acre wooded camp is located in the foothills of western Maine and is easily accessible off Route 16 about 4 miles north of its intersection with Route 4 in Oquossoc. The site abuts the famous Kennebago River known for its quality fly fishing opportunities.
Dry camping spots dot the landscape, and the site provides several outhouses for scout use. Besides providing a wilderness experience where scouts can learn valuable outdoor skills, the area provides ample recreation opportunities, including hiking, canoeing, biking, fishing or possible wildlife observation.
