BALOO (Basic Adult Leader Outdoor
Orientation)
This is a required training for Cub Scout Leaders conducting outdoor
activities.
The overall goal of BALOO is to provide that inexperienced leader with
the skills and confidence necessary to venture into the great outdoors
with his or her Cub Scouts and provide them with a great first-time
experience. The course focuses on program planning and health and safety
issues, and very few basic outdoor skills.
Boy Scouts of America regulations state that no Pack campout may be
conducted without at least one adult leader who has completed BALOO
training.
