Who can attend the Maine Jam:
The Maine Jam promises to be a huge celebration to commemorate the 100th anniversary of the start of Scouting in England and we don’t want anyone to miss it! All members in Pine Tree Council, whether they are Cub Scouts, Boy Scouts, Explorers, Venture or Varsity crews, adult leaders, volunteers and families are welcomed!
Weekend Camping is limited to Troops, Post & Crews along with 2nd year Webelos if they camp with a troop.
All are welcomed to join us on Saturday as day visitors with special events, like Trailblazer Day, planned especially for Cub Scouts and their families! Activities for our younger Scouts will be happening all day long from 9 AM to 5:50 PM and the huge arena show will kick-off at 8 PM. Day Visitors are asked to leave the fairgrounds by 10:00 PM.
Maine Jam Fees
Weekend Campers:
- $16 per camper if registered by October 5, 2007
- $20 per camper if registered after October 5th
Saturday Day Visitors:
- $6 per visitor if registered by October 5, 2007
- $8 per visitor if registered after October 5th
- Children under 3 are FREE
Location & Directions:
The Maine Jam ’07 will be held at the Oxford County Fairgrounds. The fairgrounds are located off Route 26 in downtown Oxford, Maine. Oxford is located on Map 11 in “The Maine Atlas and Gazetteer. Please enter through the Main Gate Entrance off Pottle Road. Additional parking lots will be available, with shuttles as needed. Parking information will be available at the Maine Gate.
MAINE JAM ’07 TIPS
- BE PREPARED! This will be a once in a lifetime event for many of us! Being organized makes for a smoother day!
- Please pre-register for the Maine Jam! This will help us immensely with the preplanning needed for an event of this size!
- Plan on carpooling as much as possible.
- Pack light! This event is all about program not camping!
- Plan easy meals to allow Scouts to participate fully in the program!
- Bring ground cloths to sit on at the Saturday night arena Show!
- Order trading post items early!
- Encourage patch trading!
- Come and have fun!!!
WHAT TO BRING FOR DAY VISITORS
- Good walking shoes
- Bottle water and snacks
- Dressed for the weather!
- Sunscreen / bug spray
- Money for the trading post or concessions
- NO PETS
WHAT TO BRING FOR WEEKEND CAMPING
Each camping unit will be assigned a site in their district subcamp. Units are required to provide all their own gear for the Jamboree. Troop trailers will be allowed in the subcamps for unloading Friday evening and packing Sunday morning. Troop trailers will not be allowed to stay in the subcamps during the Jamboree.
Units are encouraged to spruce up their area in subcamp with flags, banners, dining flies, cooking equipment and lanterns. Units are asked not to build their own gateways but to participate with a unit display. Every unit should bring a weatherproof display (no more than 4’ x 4’) highlighting a place, time or event in Scouting history.
Campers will be required to bring their own personal camping gear. Be prepared, the weather in mid-October could be hot and sunny or wet and cold.
Food will be available for purchase from various food vendors for Saturday only. It is recommended that campers bring a bag lunch or snacks for Saturday lunch.

FIRES
Oxford County Fairgrounds has a no open fire policy. Units are asked to respect this policy and not build campfires. Charcoal will be allowed for cooking, but charcoal fires must be above ground and controlled.
Lost and Found
A lost and found box will be in the Trading Post. The Trading Post staff will hold valuables. Anyone finding items are requested to bring them to the lost and found box at the Trading Post.
Pine Tree Council Refund Policy:
Individuals or groups that cancel their reservation 30 prior to the date of the event receive a refund of fees paid, less 15% administrative charge.
