Service & Ordeal Committee

Matt McAdam, Chairman
Bob Gosselin, Adviser (Ordeal)
Henry Zwetsloot, Adviser (Service)

This committee works to prepare a list of the projects for the Ordeals. They work to select meaningful projects that will benefit the council camps and properties for many years. They make sure to have more than enough projects for all the clans and brothers. The adviser also works with the ordealmaster in planning the ordeal. This committee is also responsible for working with the lodge leadership in developing both community and scouting service projects that both the Lodge and Chapters can undertake in the lodge year. It also oversees the OA Service Hour at summer camp.

Elangomat Committee

This committee works to secure Elangomats for all of the Ordeals and makes sure that those Elangomats are well trained. They strive to insure that the tests of the ordeal are met. This committee also holds Elangomat training sessions when requested by each Chapter.

Brotherhood Committee

This committee organizes, encourages, and is responsible for Brotherhood Conversion of eligible members. They secure Nimats and provide training for them. They plan and conduct the Nimat Hike. They also actively promote Brotherhood conversion, possibly though mailings and though the chapters, with a goal to attain the minimum 30% conversion rate.

Vigil Selection Committee

This committee meets annually to consider possible candidates and select Vigil Honorees. It also selects their names and follows the process through until those Brothers are inducted into the Vigil Honor. The committee also recommends vigil projects for consideration by the LEC.

Ceremonies Committee

This committee will assure that all necessary ceremonies will be performed at a given event, including Section and National Ceremony competitions. They coordinate with their tech crew to make sure that the ceremonial site is set up properly.

American Indian Affairs Committee

This committee oversees all Drum & Dance activities in the lodge, and makes sure that they are performed in an honorable and correct manner.

Lodge Store Committee

John Knowlton, Chairman
Mike Mirisola, Adviser

This committee opens the lodge store at lodge functions, provides adequate personnel to operate the store, keeps accurate records of its items and sales, and tries to provide new and different items when appropriate. The Lodge Store also coordinates sales with the Council Scout Shop.

Founders' Award Committee

This committee meets annually to select any honorees for the Founders’ Award. The Committee completes all necessary paperwork in preparation for its being sent to National.

Troop Representative Committee

This committee is responsible for encouragement and maintenance of the OA Troop Representative program. The committee will work closely with the Vice Chief to plan and lead at least two meetings during the year for OA Troop Representatives, as well as relay the information to the Troop Reps whenever need be.

Website Committee

This committee is responsible for designing and maintaining the Lodge web page. The web page is to follow all national policies pertaining to scout web pages. This committee is required to keep the Lodge Webpage up to date and accurate.

Camp Promotions Committee

The Camp Promotions committee is responsible for updating the current Where to Go Camping guide used by troops and by lodge members during OA elections. The committee is also responsible for the development of a Lodge Camp Promotions video. This committee must manage or delegate the efforts of writing both the guide with detailed camping areas in our lodge’s geographic area as well as developing a script, casting actors, obtaining and contracting video equipment, editing, and producing the Camp Promotions video.

Campership Committee

This committee is responsible for working with the lodge and council leadership in promoting the lodge’s commitment to council camping. The committee will select a minimum of two deserving Pine Tree Council scouts to use the camperships for a one week stay at PTC sponsored camps.

LLD Commitee

This committee is responsible for planning, organizing and hosting a successful Lodge Leadership Development Weekend. The LLD will be hosted in October of each year in coordination with the Annual Meeting and Election of Officers.

Publications Committee

This Committee works with the Lodge Secretary and Adviser of Publications to come up with Articles for Turtle Soup. This committee also works with the lodge chief in preparing promotional flyers for upcoming events for the year.

National Events Committee

This committee is in charge of preparing for the all national activity contingent travel plans and making all necessary arrangements for successful events. In off years, the committee will strive to find and complete as much fundraising as possible to help provide people to get to those events, like NOAC.

Membership/Elections Commitee

The Membership and Unit Elections committee oversees the recruitment of new members by encouraging newly elected candidates to participate in their Ordeals. They are also responsible for support of chapter elections and collection of dues from current members.

Conclave 2009 Commitee

The Conclave Committee is responsible for planning and developing programming for the 2009 Section NE-1A Conclave, which will be hosted by Madockawanda Lodge at Camp Hinds in Raymond.
