From the Chapter Chief:

Casco Bay is going strong. At our last meeting, we discussed plans for our service weekend coming up on April 18-20, and it looks like it’s going to be a party. If you find yourself without anything to do that weekend, come on up and have a good time. We also began implementing our 2008 membership drive, titled "Help the Brothers out; pay your Lodge dues". As elections draw to a close, we regret that our numbers are not as high as we’d like, but we’ve got a few more to do and look forward to welcoming our new members at the spring Ordeals.

Downeast Chapter meets on the second Wednesday of the month at 7 PM at the Wiscasset Middle School. Meetings run from September to June.

Officers:
Tyler Totten - Chief
Jeff Rhoads - Vice Chief
Harrison Parker - Vice Chief
Shawn Turner - Secretary
Gerry Pelletier - Adviser

From the Chapter Chief:

We have convened two out of three scheduled chapter meetings since the Lodge Banquet. One meeting was cancelled due to weather. Our chapter is slowly progressing toward better organization and goals. We had a major change in leadership with the enlistment of our Chapter Chief, Wyatt Carpenter, into the Army last month. Tyler Totten was appointed our new Chapter Chief for the rest of the year.

The chapter has assisted in one Webelos crossover since January. Our Chapter Advisor attended the Quality Lodge Summit in February. We have had a slow response to elections but have two scheduled for next week after having contacted seven units directly. Invitations for elections were offered at Roundtables with one unit responding. We are planning to contact the remaining units who have not yet replied.

The Chapter plans to hold a meeting at the District Camporee in May, knowing that a large number of our members will be readily available to attend. At this meeting we will update the chapter members regarding the new Strategic Plan and strive to encourage and motivate increased participation in OA events. We have been asked to coordinate the construction of the campfire Saturday evening at which time we plan to conduct the Call-Out Ceremony.

From the Chapter Chief:

K Valley’s elections are going great. So far, we have done 14 elections in this great season, and three or four are scheduled. Our secretary, Greg Solomon, has called every single troop in K Valley about elections. K Valley Chapter thanks him for his hard work. Next Wednesday, we have an American Indian coming in to talk about about her culture and dancing. Our bowling plans have been put off for the time being, due to conflicting schedules. The chapter will be getting new sweatshirts in the near future.

York

York Chapter meets on the first Thursday of the month at 7 PM at Sanford High School. Meetings run from September to June.

Officers:
Matt McAdam - Chief
Stephen Molina - Vice Chief
Jeff Molina - Secretary
Brandon Lyon - Treasurer
Phil Taschereau - Adviser
Henry Zwetsloot - Associate Adviser

From the Chapter Chief:

York has been a busy chapter in the last couple of months. The ceremonies team has been performing crossovers and so far the season is going well. As for elections, the chapter has sent out a number of election teams and completed a large number of elections. The last chapter meeting was devoted entirely to planning service projects the chapter can carry out. The projects range from helping out at the Maine Veterans Centers to volunteering at the Seashore Trolley Museum. At the end of the meeting we discussed what fun things we could do at our meetings to spice them up other than the food Phil brings every week. April’s meeting was focused solely on the fifty-mile bike ride, which is going to be a fundraiser. We are looking to raise money for the Sisters of Divine Mercy, who are raising money to have a well dug in Africa. The cost to dig the well is slightly more than $15,000. We will be collecting pledges, and this event is open to the Lodge. If you’re interested, contact me or my advisor, Phil Taschereau. The date for the bike ride is June 14th. That’s the scoop on York Chapter for this month. Stay tuned for the next episode!
